Should we dress up our pets?

My first view point is clear and it seems to me pretty obvious that most animals look - at best, embarrassed (a mild version of fear) - and - at worst - extremely uncomfortable and annoyed, when put in some of these ridiculous outfits. It makes me very annoyed. However, putting a coat on a pet in winter for welfare reasons because of cold and I disagree with who dress up animals for fashion and it too eccentric.

My friend's dog has two 'outfits': one fleece, which is for use after walks in bad weather and on times when he trains- it helps him warm up, and dries him out quicker after he's been wet. He also has a waterproof 'rug' - he gets stiff joints if he gets too cold and wet, so on the very worst days he wears this. Both are suiting and comfortable him and have a practical purpose.

Recently studies compared a wild canine in a cold climate "as nature intended", (a thick furred wolf), to a small or short haired dog bred by humans over 1000's of years and and it reveals that why we shouldn't we give animals some protection when it's cold?

In other hand it exposed to that small animals lose heat quicker than large ones due to a lower surface area to mass ratio, but dressing them up in hats & sun glasses etc is just for fashion purposes.
